Jon Waite is an active performing musician having played throughout Wisconsin, Northern Illinois and Upper Michigan in addition to his work as an educator. He has performed as saxophonist with many groups and artists including Grammy winning Latino artist Manny Manuel, Milwaukee’s own All-Star SUPERband and the only true Merengue group in town, Orquesta Veneno.

Jon has appeared recently as a soloist with the Concord Chamber Orchestra and been a member of the Milwaukee Concert Band. He is also a regular contributor to Kenosha-based blues band Cows In The Shade as well as various classical chamber groups around the region. Jon has given recitals and masterclasses and has been invited as a guest artist around the Czech Republic and continues to be an active performer both in Prague and outlying areas of that country.

 

About the All-Star Superband

The All-Star SUPERband is a sixteen piece rehearsal band that plays every Thursday night to benefit Easter Seals of Southeast Wisconsin. Many of Milwaukee’s finest musicians participate each week, playing music that features improvisation and music, as a rule, that is difficult. The band plays the arrangements of Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, and Buddy Rich. Other favorite arrangers are Toshiko Akiyoshi, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Bill Holman, Don Ellis, Gordon Goodwin and Sammy Nestico.
