Fine Arts Camps Europe

Faculty – Director of Symphonic Bands and Jazz Ensembles

About the Fine Arts Camps Europe (Czech Music Camp for Youth)

Fine Arts Camps Europe serves students between the ages of 8 through 19 and is one of only a few such experiences in Central Europe. The purpose of this educational project is to give the campers opportunity to play in large ensembles like symphony orchestra or symphonic band. Making music in a large group motivates students to develop their talent. Other music majors such as piano, harp, recorders, and guitar also focus on an ensemble performance. Since the campers come from different countries, the idea of international understanding through the universal language of music is central to the philosophy of the camp. FACE is modeled after and shares an active partnership with Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan, down to the ubiquitous blue polo shirts!

Mr. Waite has served as the longest tenured resident director of the Symphonic Band in the history of the camp, serving since the 2009 season and added the Jazz Ensemble directorship in 2011. In addition to his ensemble duties, Mr. Waite also works to serve as an unofficial saxophone instructor giving masterclasses, pushing both student and staff assistants to advance their knowledge of and interest in the saxophone.
